The devil is in the detail for Richard Deverell, graphic designer and owner of Launceston-based Dev Design and Creative, established in May 2016.
Having over 20 years’ experience in the design, advertising and marketing industry, starting his own graphic design company was a natural progression for Richard.
“Having worked in the industry for so long, I have been able to establish relationships with some great people and the opportunity to start my own business presented itself early last year and with the support of my wife Nardia and daughter Milla we decided to take the plunge, not wanting to look back and regret it later in life,” he said.
Offering a complete in-house design service there is nothing that Dev Design can’t do, from graphic design to branding, print and web – if it needs designing they can do it.
“Clients are often surprised when I let them know I can fully design their projects whether that is creation of their logo and brand or associated marketing collateral such as signage and catalogue design, or a shiny new website, Dev Design is a one-stop shop,” he said.
Starting up a new business or creating a fresh look for an existing business can be a bit of a minefield, and having someone like Richard to guide you through the steps of marketing your business through the use of logos, websites and promotional materials has been a relief to many local businesses.
Reliability and professionalism with quality results is what Richard believes is the key to succeeding in such a competitive industry. Years of experience and local knowledge have helped him to build a strong client base since May 2016, with hopes of more success to come.
“I have worked with over 80 new or existing business since Dev Design started in May last year.
It has been really satisfying connecting and reconnecting with people I’ve worked with in the past.
My clients like the fact they are talking to the person who will be responsible for the actual designing of their project.
“There is nothing more rewarding for me than meeting with a client, discussing their vision and developing original design concepts that meet their requirements.
“And they get a great result that doesn’t break the bank, within a time frame that suits their needs,” Richard said.
When it came to marketing his own business, Richard used his surname for inspiration.
“The business name and associated ‘devil’ logo arises from my surname ‘Deverell’, which sounds a little like devil and my nickname is Dev, anyone who knows me calls me Dev.”
Richard already has plans to expand the business to incorporate aerial photo and video production through the use of his recently obtained drone, or as Richard calls it ‘Sky Devil’.
“When you own your own business you get the opportunity to explore areas that interest you personally,” Richard said.
‘Sky Devil’ does just that… I get to enjoy the outdoors and see things from a pretty cool perspective. I hope to combine my passion for golf too, and provide flyovers for local golf clubs, showcasing the amazing courses Tasmania has to offer” he said
