Tasmanian superannuation fund Tasplan has been named in the top five performing super funds in Australia over the past financial year.
Super research firm Chant West analysed the performance of super growth funds across the country and found Tasplan to be in the top five best performing growth funds, returning 8.6 per cent to Tasplan’s members.
Tasplan is the state’s largest super fund. It has also recently announced the appointment of David Stuart as Chief Investment Officer.
With nearly 40 years’ experience in the investment industry, Mr Stuart was the lead consultant advising Tasplan for over a decade in his previous role as Chief Strategist for Mercer in the Pacific region.
A former partner in Mercer’s Wealth business, David also served as the Chair of Mercer Australia’s Dynamic Asset Allocation Committee, as well as chairing the Global Dynamic Asset Allocation Committee. Prior to joining Mercer, David worked in a variety of roles in the industry, including Regional CIO for HSBC Asset Management, where he was responsible for all investment teams across the Asia Pacific region.
