The Launceston Chamber of Commerce has appointed a new President, Self Help Workplace general manager Donna Bain.
Donna was elected unopposed on November 11 at the Chamber’s first board meeting since its annual general meeting in October.
Donna joined the Chamber’s board in 2013 and served as Treasurer in 2014-15. Donna is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and winner of the Telstra White Pages Community and Government (Tasmania) Award in 2011. She brings expertise in business management, policy development, corporate governance and leadership to the role.
Donna thanked outgoing president Janine Healey, who stepped down at the October annual general meeting after three years at the Chamber’s helm.
“Janine’s leadership has ensured the Chamber has achieved a new level of respect in our community and is an organisation that is taken seriously as we represent the needs of our members,” Donna said.
“I look forward to continuing to work with Chamber members and others in our region and beyond to pursue opportunities so our region’s economy is reinvigorated and Tasmania continues to be a place where people choose to live, work and invest.”
Royal Flying Doctors Service Tasmania chief executive officer John Kirwan was appointed to one of the Vice President roles, joining Richard Ireland who continues in the post.
B&E Banking Finance Manager Honni Pitt was appointed as Treasurer.
