The Earth Awards are the longest running and most sought after premier engineering and construction awards in the country, The Tasmanian Earth Awards were held on Friday, 25 July at Wrest Point Casino, Hobart.

Chief Executive Officer of the Civil Contractors Federation, Tony Cook, said the awards were attended by the who’s who of the Tasmanian civil contracting sector and supporters of the industry including the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Elise Archer MP and the Minister for Infrastructure, Rene Hidding.

“Tasmanian Earth Award winners included Shaw Contracting and Tasmanian Irrigation for work on the Wyniford Wier Upgrade and VEC Civil Engineering for the Launceston Flood Levee Upgrade,” Mr Cook said.

Other winners included Hazell Bros Group, the Department of Infrastructure Energy and Resources and Pitt and Sherry for the Tarkine Tourist Drive and Tasmanian Irrigation, Fulton Hogan and Hazell Bros Group for the Midlands Water Scheme.

The winners will compete against other state and territory winner from across Australia at the National Earth Awards Conference being held in South Australia in October.

Also presented was the Annual Safety at Roadworks Awards, presented by Infrastructure Minister, Rene Hidding, to joint winners Hazell Bros Group and Andrew Walker Constructions.

The Safety at Roadworks Award was presented for their commitment to improving and maintaining safety at roadwork sites in 2014.
